Local woman back in jail on drug charges
Ceres Cop Car

Police found themselves dealing with a familiar face on Jan. 31 when they were called out by employees of Subway at 1515 Mitchell Road for a woman who locked herself in the restroom.

Officers responded to the 3:21 a.m. call and eventually gained entry to find Monica Sapien, 48, of Ceres, who appeared to be on drugs and in possession of a tall can of beer.

Police have had frequent contacts with Sapien who is on probation for trespassing at other businesses. She was arrested and booked for misdemeanor trespassing, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and violating terms of her probation. During the intake booking process Sapien attempted to smuggle a small amount of crystal methamphetamine into jail. She now faces the added felony charge.
