Mark Higgins, 41, of Ceres, was arrested outside the 7-Eleven store on Herndon Road north of Hatch Road Thursday morning after admitting he stole food.

Officer Freddie Ortiz had just stopped a man on a bicycle near the 7-Eleven parking lot at 4:25 a.m. when the clerk at the store followed after a man leaving the store. The clerk spotted the officer and cried out, “He stole!” Officer Ortiz then stopped Higgins who admitted the theft of food. Higgins was found to have several drug and trespassing warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and booked.
