Jason Wolfe Foster, 21, will have to answer in court to charges that he lied to Ceres Police about his name after he tried to ditch police, likely to avoid arrest for several outstanding warrants.

Officer Freddie Ortiz was northbound on Richland Avenue at 8:09 p.m. on Monday, July 6 when he spotted Foster and recognized him as running from another officer that morning. Foster immediately took off on his bicycle through the dd's discounts store parking lot on Hatch Road. Ortiz lost sight of Foster but a citizen pointed him out as he was southbound into an apartment complex. A second officer found Foster at the complex at 1625 Richland Ave.

Foster fought to be detained and then gave police another name. His true identity was learned as he was being booked at the County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, giving a false ID and several outstanding warrants, including for narcotics and possession of stolen property.
