A homeowner wrestled with a suspect he caught trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle parked in the driveway early Thursday. His actions led to the arrest of Kyle Hebert, 41, of Modesto.

At approximately 3:12 a.m. the homeowner in the 2600 block of Riverbend Drive was awakened to the sound of a surveillance camera giving notification of motion in the driveway. On the video screen the victim saw a male with tools crawling underneath the victim’s vehicle. The owner went outside to confront the suspect as his wife called police. When Officer Billy Carter arrived, the victim and Hebert were wrestling on the ground.

Hebert was arrested on charges of felony vandalism, possession of burglary tools, vehicle tampering and probation violations.
