A 51-year-old man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly brandishing a handgun and threatening members of a family in the 1000 block of Cadillac Drive.

Police were called at approximately 1 a.m. to check reports that Rodney Cerda posed a threat to occupants of the house. They ushered everyone out of the house safely, including Cerda. During the investigation it was determined Cerda was in possession of a firearm inside the house even though he was legally prohibited from possessing a gun.

Police searched the property and found a semi-automatic handgun in the garage. Cerda was arrested and charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and brandishing a firearm.
