A report of drug activity inside a parked car at the Hatch Road AM/PM Mini-Mart last week resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old Newman man.

Officer Eric Gallegos was dispatched to the convenience store at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 after a citizen reported a nab sitting in a car smoking drugs. Officer Gallegos arrived and found Adam Torres, 30 of Newman, inside his car and could see what appeared to be a glass methamphetamine pipe and a baggy of methamphetamine on the center console. Torres, who was on felony probation, admitted the drug was his and that he had been smoking it before Officer Gallegos walked up on him.

Torres was arrested and booked for possession of narcotics.
