Pair arrested trying to pass counterfeit money

Joel Luna and Staci Faletti were arrested after trying to pass counterfeit money at O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

A couple from Bethel Island were arrested and booked Wednesday afternoon, July 6, after they attempted to pass counterfeit currency inside 

O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in the 1300 block of Hatch Road.

A store employee called police at 2:09 p.m. to alert them of the suspected fraudulent activity once the couple exited the store. Officers Christian Izquierdo and Kao Saechao were given descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle and located one suspect standing by a gray Mercedes Benz. The officers saw a firearm in the vehicle and detained Joel Luna, 47, and Staci Faletti 47. A search of the car turned up several counterfeit bills.

Luna, who had an outstanding felony arrest warrant, was booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of counterfeit money and the warrant. Faletti was also charged with possession of counterfeit bills.
