The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department wasn’t releasing many details about an apparent homicide that occurred in a home just outside Ceres’ eastern city limits on Thursday morning.
At about 4:30 a.m. a woman living in the 3200 block of McGee Avenue called 911 to report that someone broke into her home and that she and her young daughter were hiding in a bedroom.
Deputies rushed to the home and found a deceased male but the woman and daughter unharmed. It remains unclear if the dead man was a resident of the house, which is a block outside the city limits and located north of Roeding Road.
The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is conducting the investigation. At the time of a press release issued Thursday, the victim had not been identified, and the motive for the murder is unclear, nor did detectives have details on the suspect or suspects.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Rodriguez at (209) 525-7114. Stanislaus County Area Crime Stoppers can also be contacted for anonymous reports by calling 1-866-60-CRIME. A free mobile app can also be downloaded at P3Tips.
