Ceres Cop Car

A loss prevention officer at Home Depot on Hatch Road had a harrowing moment when he tried to apprehend shoplifting suspects and was shown a gun while receiving a death threat.

The incident occurred at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 when store security saw Robert Seals, 48, of Modesto, and a teen stuffing merchandise worth $98.88 and try to leave the store. When they tried to stop and detain Seals, who was putting up a fight, and the teen, Seals became argumentative and displayed a handgun and threatened to kill the security if they didn't let him go. Before he was grabbed Seals threw the toy gun under a parked car and began to bite one of the agents. The teen ran away.

Ceres Police arrived and arrested Seals and were told that a second subject had fled the scene. Officers located a 16-year-old male nearby.

Seals was booked into the County Jail on charges of robbery, conspiracy and making terrorist threats. The minor was booked into Juvenile Hall on robbery and conspiracy charges.
