A 30-year-old man was arrested in the 1000 block of Musick Avenue last week after his parents told him he needed to move out of their house and he threatened to shoot police if they were called.

The incident started at 1:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 when the parents of Vicente Carvajal, 30, of Modesto, called 911 to report an argument broke out after he was told he needed to move out and threatened to shoot police if they were called to the residence. He then retreated to his bedroom where the parents heard the sounds of a firearm being manipulated.

Carvajal’s parents fled their home before Ceres Police arrived and set up a perimeter around it. Officer Steve Carvalho, a trained crisis negotiator, coaxed Carvajal out of the house by phone and he was detained without incident.

Police found two rifles and several rounds of live ammunition hidden under a couch. Carvajal was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
