A 26-year-old Turlock man led Ceres Police on a high-speed chase from the Cruisers station on Mitchell Road all the way to his hometown early Thursday morning.

Sgt. Trenton Johnson was on patrol at 1:15 a.m. when he saw a black Camaro speeding away from the parking lot of Cruisers and southbound on Mitchell Road at a high rate of speed. Sgt. Johnson attempted to stop driver Christopher Valadez, 26, of Turlock, but he decided to flee.  Valadez accelerated onto southbound Highway 99 at speeds of up to 130 mph. The chase ended when Valadez took the West Main Street exit in Turlock and tried to ditch into the McDonald’s parking lot. Sgt. Johnson boxed in the Camaro until backup officers arrived.

Valadez refused commands to exit his car and had to be forcefully removed. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and booked into the Public Safety Center. He was booked for felony evading a peace officer.
