Stolen vehicle recovered with two arrests
Jose Cervantez Martinez and William Lopez
Jose Cervantez Martinez and William Lopez were both arrested when a Ceres Police stopped them in a stolen car.

It was fast speed that caught the attention of Ceres Police Officer Matt Vierra who then pursued the vehicle and found out that it was stolen before arresting two occupants on Monday.

At 11:21 p.m. Officer Vierra was on patrol in the area of Hatch and Morgan roads when he saw a Toyota 4-Runner zipping by at a fast rate and chased after it. A traffic stop was made in the area of Boulder and Rio Grande avenues. The officer quickly determined that the license plate did not match the vehicle and a check determined the vehicle was reported as stolen.

Occupants William Lopez, 34, of Modesto and Jose Cervantez Martinez, 48, of Ceres were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. Martinez also had warrants for his arrest, one being for felony vandalism. Both occupants were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
