Police arrested a 38-year-old Ceres man as he was caught in the act of burglarizing a car in the area of Mitchell Road and Hatch Road Sunday morning.

At 7:45 a.m. police were called about a vehicle burglary in progress. The citizen reported that he watched a male rummaging through a parked vehicle with a shattered window. Officer Eric Gallegos arrived and found Jerry Bowen, 38, of Ceres, inside of the car. Bowen claimed that he was looking through the vehicle in an attempt to locate a phone number for the owner but property taken from the car was located in Bowen’s pockets.

He was booked for burglary.
