Suspects caught with stolen motorcycle

Two Modesto men were arrested in downtown Ceres on Monday morning after they were seen wheeling a stolen motorcycle down an alley.

At 5:51 a.m. Traffic officer Kitcher was on his way to work when he saw two men walking the motorcycle in the 2300 block of Magnolia down an alley between Third and Fourth streets. One man ran toward a house and crouched down out of sight while the other took off on foot and tried to jump a fence.

Officer Freddie Ortiz arrived and after a brief struggle arrested the man who tried to jump the fence.

Jose Ochoa, 33, of Modesto, was in possession of a stolen Glock .40 caliber handgun. Ochoa was arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Rudy Vargas, 22, of Modesto, was arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The motorcycle had been stolen from the 3000 block of Central Avenue, said Ceres Police Lt. Brent Smith.
