The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department has arrested a 14-year-old Turlock boy and they are searching for his 17-year-old accomplice on an allegation they caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Keyes home during a night of vandalism.

The 14-year-old was taken into custody Saturday after investigators identified him from a fingerprint left at the home.

The vandalism took place sometime around 2 a.m. Dec. 11 at a home under construction in the 5200 block of Davina Way in Keyes.

A resident living in the area heard glass breaking from the new home construction area and went and found the security guard to inform them of a possible break-in, according to the sheriff's department. The security guard contacted the sheriff's department and two deputies responded to the scene.

The two deputies investigated inside the home and found it had significant vandalism, including holes in the walls, broken windows, and extensive water damage. The damage done to the house was estimated at $30,000, according to the sheriff's department.

During the investigation the deputies found a usable fingerprint, which ultimately led to the identification of the 14-year-old boy as the suspect.

The teenager was arrested at a home in Turlock and charged with felony vandalism. The 17-year-old is wanted on the same charge.
