Four juvenile boys, ranging from 15 to 17 years of age, were booked into Juvenile Hall on Thursday after they committed a series of crimes starting with a backpack snatch and grab at the Ceres skate park in Smyrna Park.

The four were each booked for robbery, attempted robbery, hit and run with injury and fleeing or evading the police.

At 3:12 p.m. officers were dispatched to the park for a robbery in which four males apparently assaulted a victim and took several of his possessions including his backpack and shoes. The suspects fled in a teal Honda Civic. At 3:23 p.m. Officer Souza spotted a green Honda Civic leaving Save Mart and when he attempted to stop it the vehicle sped off fled westbound on Whitmore Avenue where it collided with another vehicle at Whitmore and Charlotte. The four scattered on foot. Officer Souza and Sgt. Trenton Johnson caught a suspect apiece in the 2600 block of Tenth Street but the other two slipped away.

A short time later, at 3:26 p.m. Officer Vince Hooper saw a Honda run the stop sign at Rose and Charlotte. Officer Freddie Ortiz, who was also in the area, sped off after the car, believing it may be involved with the pursuit. The suspects fled from Officer Hooper and Ortiz and drove from Rose to Garrison to Moffett where it collided with another vehicle. The Honda continued to the west curb of Moffett. Officer Hooper pulled up next to the driver's door to keep the suspect from running and Ortiz blocked the car in from the rear. The driver put the car in reverse and rammed Ortiz's patrol car but was unable to get away and the two suspects surrendered.

The suspect driving the car during the Whitmore Avenue collision sustained a significant injury to a hand and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The other driver had minor injuries that did not require treatment.

Police learned that the two remaining teens had attempted to steal a woman's purse at Save Mart and the fled in the green Honda.

All four teens were identified as the suspects who attacked the victim at Smyrna Park and took his personal belongings.

Both Hondas had been reported stolen.
