A man who was trespassing and ransacking a backyard shed for recyclables was held at knifepoint by the homeowner on Friday afternoon until police arrived.

The homeowner in the 3100 block of West Avenue said he had been experiencing a lot of theft recently and found Stephen Hammond, 42, of Ceres, rummaging through his shed at 1:22 p.m. The door to the shed had been removed.
