Two men were arrested for attempting to purchase over $800 worth of merchandise with a fraudulent check at the Ceres Walmart store on Friday afternoon, Dec. 29.

Police were alerted at 3:12 p.m. after the bank on which the check was drawn confirmed that the name did not match the account number. Gustavo Candelario, 47, stated the information on the ID and the check he was using was his cousin's.

Police said Leland Combs, 31, lied about his name during the interview and both were arrested and booked.
