An officer’s attempt to pull over the rider of a Kawasaki motorcycle for vehicle code violations on Friday evening resulted in a police pursuit and an eventual arrest.
At approximately 11:37 p.m., Officer Charles Rushing was patrolling the area of Moffett Road at River Road when he attempted to stop James Johnson, 35, of Ceres. Johnson fled and shortly after the pursuit began, the Modesto Police Department fixed wing aircraft assisted to track the suspect. The pursuit ended in the area of Pecos Avenue and Herndon Road when the Kawasaki had mechanical issues. After a high-risk stop, Johnson was arrested for evading police in a vehicle and being unlicensed. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
