Unsafe traffic move leads to stop, warrant arrest

Officer Brian Petersen made a stop on a driver who made an unsafe turn in front of oncoming traffic on Friday and arrested a passenger who had an arrest warrant.

The unsafe turn was witnessed by Peterson at Whitmore and Moffett at 1:24 p.m. Officer Petersen contacted the occupants and found passenger John Carter, 32, of Modesto, had a warrant for his arrest.

Later that day at 8:01 p.m., Sergeant Vince Hooper stopped a car in the 1600 block of Pink Avenue and took interest in both occupants. Driver Angel Perez, 20, of Modesto, was driving on a suspended license for a prior driving under the influence charge. He was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and his vehicle was towed. His passenger, Richard Castro, 20, of Ceres, was found to have two warrants for his arrest and booked.
