A 28-year-old Salinas man was arrested Friday evening by a Ceres Police officer who supposed to spot a stolen van in the country.
At 6:35 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Aaron Pinon was in the rural Turlock area of Harding Road and Central Avenue when he spotted a white Ford Econoline van which was reported as stolen. The officer continued watching the van until additional law enforcement arrived and a vehicle stop was attempted near Central Avenue and W. Main Street. However, the driver, Christopher Moreno, 28, of Salinas drove into a nearby dairy and fled on foot. Officers ran after him and apprehended Moreno. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
