The driver of an Audi that crashed through a gate surrounding the Ceres Memorial Park property Saturday afternoon will be in court to address charges that she was intoxicated.

At 12:16 p.m. police found driver Priscilla Garza 30, of Ceres, and her passenger outside of the crashed car. Garza said she was driving westbound on Whitmore Ave when her car suddenly veered to the right and crashed through the fence. She blamed the crash on car trouble which she could not afford to repair. However, police noticed that Garza appeared to have been drinking alcoholic beverages. She said she was drinking tequila the prior night and morning but had stopped at 5 a.m.  Due to her injuries Garza was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She was issued a citation for driving under the influence and left in the care of hospital staff. Her passenger was not injured.
