WOUNDED MAN UNCOOPERATIVE WITH POLICE

A man who suffered a large gash on his head requiring stitches was uncooperative with police before he was sent to Memorial Medical Center for stitches early Monday.

Police were dispatched to Oasis and Pyramid avenues at 12:37 a.m. with a report of a fight with possible shots fired. Officers found a bicycle in the roadway with a lot of blood. The blood trail led to a residence in the 2700 block of Oasis Avenue. There police found a man with the head wound. Police believe the man was hit with the crowbar found in the street.

The man, recently released from state prison where he had been serving a sentence of auto theft, was not cooperative. That led police to surmise that the man had been attempting to steal a car in the area and was hit in the head by a car owner.

"We think this was a case of street justice," commented Sgt. Joe Wren.
