Lying about his true identity netted Brandon Thornsberry, 34, of Modesto, an additional charge after he was stopped for shoplifting at Walmart on Friday evening.
Police were called at 9 p.m. about a Walmart shoplifter in custody. They searched Thornsberry who was found in possession of methamphetamine.
Thornsberry originally gave officers the name of a family member but his true identity was learned. He was booked on charges of impersonating another person, petty theft and possession of methamphetamine.
