Two vacancies on the Measure H Citizens’ Oversight Committee need to be filled; one term expiring on June 30, 2024 and the other on June 30, 2025.
The vacancies will be filled by City Council appointment.
Applications are now being accepted and must be completed and returned to the City Clerk by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19. Applications are available at Ceres City Hall, 2220 Magnolia Street, or an application may be downloaded from the city’s website, www.ci.ceres.ca.us
Those who are city employees, city officials, contractors or vendors of the city cannot be considered for an appointment.
The five-member Measure H Citizens’ Oversight Committee meets twice per year and is responsible for conducting annual reviews of the expenditures made from the the half-cent Public Safety Sales Tax.
The vacancies on the committee were created by the resignations of Cerina Otero who was recently appointed to the Planning Commission, and Rosalinda Vierra, who was elected to the Ceres City Council.
Other members are Vincent Truffa, Josh Steeley and Sopheap Dong-Carreon.
Measure H passed in November 2007 in a 74.3 percent to 25.7 percent margin. At the time of its passage the city expected to generate millions annually to fund up to new police officers and new firefighters. The tax also purchases new protective equipment for officers and emergency rescue equipment.
