Ceres firefighters assisted Modesto Fire in battling a fire that caused an estimated $150,000 damage in the 1600 block of Boise Avenue.

Despite a moderate and unseasonal rain that was falling, the fire broke out at around 6 a.m. in the neighborhood south of Hatch Road and west of Dallas Street.

The first firefighters to respond saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. The fire had extended into the home and was threatening a neighboring house. Crews deployed a hose line to protect the neighboring house and made an interior fire attack inside the burning home. Their efforts halted the spread of the fire.

The home was searched and all occupants were out and accounted for. The cause is under investigation.

Three adults and a child were displaced and assisted by the American Red Cross. Modesto Fire Department offered a $100 California Fire Foundation Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) Card to the displaced occupants.
