Ceres Chamber presents 125 blankets for children through Pajama Project

Herman Bhatti , Chamber president, donated blankets to Pajama Project organizer Zenia Zuniga on Monday.

Ceres Chamber President Herman Bhatti on Monday morning presented Zenia Zuniga with 125 blankets for her Pajama Project.

Bhatti’s company, GNN Real Estate, originally purchased the blankets and donated them to the Ceres Chamber of Commerce. At its last meeting, the Chamber board decided the blankets would best benefit the Pajama Project organized by Zenia Zuniga, a long-time Ceres resident.

“Nothing goes better with a good pair of pajamas than a nice, warm blanket,” said Bhatti. “I’m so glad we were able to donate these to a great cause and a great organization.”

Zuniga was appreciative of the blankets and mentioned that even after a recent pajama drive held at the Ceres Community Center – her largest drive in the 10 years she’s operated the project – that she is still about 150 pajamas short for teens in need.

Those who would like to reach out to Zuniga for a donation, may email her at zenia@pajamaprogram.org or visit the “Pajama Program CA Central Valley Chapter” Facebook page.

Since Pajama Program began in 2001, over six million new pajamas and millions of new books have been distributed to children in need nationwide.

The public can help the effort by donating a new children’s book, new pajamas of all children’s sizes (for babies to 18 years of age who require adult sizes), or make a financial donation by emailing Zuniga at zenia@pajamaprogram.org.

She said her group is available to confidentially assist children by teacher and professional referrals.
