The community is invited to come out to sip coffee and chat with Ceres police officers informally and discuss topics of concern on Wednesday morning, Oct. 4.

Officers will be at the Starbucks at Hatch and Mitchell roads in Ceres from 7 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to discuss community issues and build relationships in the informal, neutral setting. The "Coffee with a Cop" program is designed to allow community members to ask questions, share concerns, learn more about Ceres Police Department's work in Ceres neighborhoods, and get to know officers.

"We look forward to these visits and the opportunity to reestablish connections with the people of Ceres," stated Ceres Police Chief Brent Smith.

Coffee with a Cop is intended to break down barriers and allow for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the country, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
