Ceres trucker dies on 99

A 37-year-old truck driver from Ceres was killed in a Saturday accident on Highway 99 south of Kingsburg in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol has not released the driver's identity pending notification of relatives.

The truck driver was driving a 2009 International three-axle tractor-trailer rig southbound on Highway 99 south of Road 12. For some unknown reason at 12:01 a.m. the truck hit the center divider and plowed into a parked 2000 Ford water truck. The colliding vehicles continued into they hit a third vehicle, a parked dump truck. In the crash the left side fuel tank was torn open, spilling fuel onto the asphalt.

The driver was deceased at the scene.

Caltrans was called in to clean up the hazardous materials clean-up.

The investigating officer with the CHP did not believe that drugs or alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
