The Ceres Chamber of Commerce is currently recruiting volunteers for a cleanup of the city's gateways on Saturday, August 22.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street in downtown Ceres. Work is expected to take approximately three to four hours.

"This is part of our ongoing efforts to beautify Ceres and clean up trash in our community," said Chamber Office Manager Dovie Wilson. "We typically focus on Highway 99, but we've had a lot of complaints about the city gateways so have decided to focus our efforts on these areas."

One of those areas will be the southern gateway where Mitchell Road and Highway 99 meet.

Those interested in volunteering may call the Ceres Chamber office at 537-2601 to sign up.
