A Sunday afternoon fire destroyed an RV and a home under construction on Hackett Road in Ceres.
The county investigator is looking into the cause of the blaze but Modesto Deputy Fire Chief Darin Jesburg said it the origin could prove suspicious.
The fire broke out at 2:49 p.m. and quickly became fully involved by the time firefighters arrived with five engines.
Chief Jesburg said the fire exposed neighboring structures to the risk of burning but that firefighters with multiple hand water lines knocked down the fire, limiting damage to one building that sustained minor damage.
The chief commented that the property was unsecured and that no one was believed living inside the framed structure.
Later in the day at 4:16 p.m. Modesto Fire responded to a report of a potential structure fire on South Seventh Street in Modesto that turned out to be a fire engulfing a passenger vehicle.
