Ceres firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extract injured persons pinned inside of a blue Ford Mustang that crashed at Whitmore Avenue and Faith Home Road on Wednesday.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. Ceres Police Traffic Officer Freddy Ortiz said the Mustang was being driven westbound on Whitmore Avenue by Arely Carrasco who stopped at the stop sign at Faith Home Road. As it continued through the intersection it was struck by a northbound Toyota Corolla traveling at an unknown speed.

One occupant of the Mustang had to be extricated after firefighters removed the door. A total of three persons in the Ford sustained minor to moderate injuries. The driver of the Toyota, Linda Andrea Vieyra, sustained only minor injuries.

Officer Ortiz said it did not appear that either driver was intoxicated or on drugs.

Ortiz said both drivers claimed they stopped before entering the intersection so there is an investigation as to who violated right of way.
