Hughson to host parade

The Hughson Chamber of Commerce will host a Saturday, Nov. 29 Christmas Festival in downtown Hughson.

The event is geared toward families.

A competition to build gingerbread houses will be held at 12 noon on Hughson Avenue and a Christmas boutique featuring over 30 local vendors will run from noon to 7 p.m.

Entertainment will begin in Centennial Park at 5 p.m., followed by a Downtown Christmas Parade down Hughson Avenue at 5:30 p.m. The parade will feature clubs, school groups and local businesses.

Following the parade there will be a "Spirit of Christmas" Ornament Dedication & Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Centennial Park.

Following the tree lighting, the Hughson Historical Society will present an open house at the museum on Hughson Avenue.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. hot cocoa with Santa Claus will be offered by the Chamber and Hughson Garden Club.
Walking Christmas carolers from Hughson Christian School will start at 6 p.m.

The festival will include shopping and dining specials from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a business decorating contest.
The community can help sponsor a family in need with a Christmas basket by checking out the information booth at the festival.
