Ceres Police conducted a high-risk traffic stop Thursday evening on a car containing a Modesto teenager who moments before had flashed a gun at an employee at Wendy’s on Hatch Road.

Police dispatchers received an 8:55 p.m. call from Wendy’s where a 17-year-old female employee was shown a gun tucked in the waistband. The teenage suspect later proved to be an unnamed 17-year-old who was arrested for various weapon and drug charges.

The two left the eatery and jumped into a black car which left the area. Officer Christian Izquierdo located the car leaving Wendy’s and stopped it nearby. After backup arrived the occupants were removed from the vehicle.

Darrius Figueroa, 18, of Modesto, was found with a stolen .22 caliber handgun on his body. A Glock 9mm with no serial number was found in the car with a 30 round magazine. A plastic bag of cocaine was also found in the car.

Wendy’s surveillance video showed could clearly see the 17-year-old boy lifting his shirt to show the female employee the gun, which was tucked into his waistband. The employee was taken to the scene to verify who brandished the gun.

Both Figueroa and the unnamed teen face weapons and drug charges, said Sgt. Greg Yotsuya.
