A 29-year-old Turlock man was killed in a Thursday solo car crash on Keyes Road just east of Swanson Road.

The crash was reported at 4:15 a.m., but the California Highway Patrol is unsure of when the crash occurred.

The victim was identified as James Nix.

CHP investigators believe the 1997 Honda was westbound on Keyes Road at an unknown speed, approaching Swanson Road when Nix allowed their car to drift to the left and into shoulder where it struck a concrete irrigation box. The car sustained major damage and the driver – he was not seat-belted – was declared dead at the scene.

It’s unknown if drugs and/or alcohol contributed to this collision.
