Two vehicles collided outside of Hughson Thursday night, pinning one occupant in his vehicle but leaving both drivers escaping with only minor injuries.
The crash occurred at 11 p.m. at Fox and Geer roads.
A spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred when Manuel Ramirez, 36, of Oakdale, ran his black Honda Accord through a stop sign and broadsided a Ford F-250 pickup headed southbound on Geer Road. Traffic on Geer Road does not have to stop at the intersection.
Both vehicles came to rest at the northeast corner of Fox and Geer, the Honda blocking part of Fox Road and the front wheels of the pickup twisted. The back of the pickup was lifted off the ground.
Hughson firefighters responded to the crash scene and spent time extricating one of the drivers from the wreckage although it was not immediately clear which one.
The driver of the pickup, Cory Morais, 41, of Turlock, was not responsible for the crash but he was found to be intoxicated and arrested for DUI.
A preliminary report offered to the Courier by the CHP did not indicate why Ramirez failed to stop.
Both Morais and Ramirez were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
The CHP could cite Ramirez for failing to stop at the stop sign.
