The Ceres Library recently wrapped up its Summer Reading Challenge with the awarding of two bicycles to two lucky readers.

The challenge required readers to log their reading activity on Beanstack each day that they read or were read to for 30 minutes between May 16 and August 1. In turn, participants earned raffle tickets for the many prizes awarded throughout the county, including $50 Walmart and Target gift cards and an Apple iPad. Additionally, all persons under 18 who completed the challenge were awarded a free book and bag.

The two bikes, which were donated to Ceres Library by the Friends of the Ceres Library, went to Jhia Snow, 8, and Ray Garay, 13.

All participants 18 and under were awarded an additional prize of either a Habit Burger Grill kids meal, a Mountain Mike’s pizza, a Foster’s Freeze ice cream or an In-N-Out cheeseburger. Ceres Library Supervisor Rebecca Brown said the prizes were donated by generous merchants.
