A memorial was held on Sunday at the Oakdale Masonic Lodge for Arthur "Art" Oglesby, 73. He died of lung cancer on Nov 30, 2009.

Burial was at the San Joaquin Valley Nattional Cemetery in Santa Nella.

Born June 14, 1936 in Chicago, Ill., Art joined the Navy at age 17 and served on five different aircraft carriers during both the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. On leaving the Navy, Art worked for Lifetime Pools in Palo Alto for 20 years. Mr. Oglesby then settled in Stanislaus County and drove buses for Oakdale School District. He then became a bus driver for the Escalon School District until he made a home in the Keyes Union School District. Art retired from Keyes Union School Dist in June. Art was involved with the Masons and served as master Mason and he was also chapter President for CSEA in Keyes. Art was also a wonderful cook.

He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Carol Oglesby; his daughter, Elizabeth Oswald; his mother, Elvira; two sisters, Lillian Van deBerg and Marilyn Podraza; two stepsons, Donald and Jason; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
