A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church for Bertha Mae Holly Close, 83, of Ceres. She died Monday, March 1, 2004 at her daughter's home in Jerome, Idaho.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. March 26 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton. Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 15, 1920, Mrs. Close was a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, and lived in Jerome for two months. She previously lived in Ceres for 10 years. Mrs. Close was a homemaker and a member of the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed reading.
She leaves behind six children, Roy Tim Close of Newark, Robert L. Close and Miareen Dias, both of Riverdale, O. Frances Blase of Ceres, Helen Jean Wells of Jerome and Nancy Pritchard of Hanford; three brothers, Ralph Holly of Texas, and Bill H. Holly and Ray L. Holly, both of Olivehurst; two sisters, Mary J. Bounds of Texas and Dorothy Harbour of Olivehurst; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Jackie D. Close; one brother; and one sister.
