A memorial service was held Saturday morning at Cunningham's Funeral Home for Billy Joe Maples, 60, of Hughson. He died Monday, March 15, 2004 at his home.

Born Oct. 3, 1943, Mr. Maples was a native of French Camp and lived in Hughson for seven years and Turlock 10 years. He also lived in Modesto and Sunnyvale. Mr. Maples was a truck loader, packer and lumper. He enjoyed fishing and dogs.

He leaves behind three daughters, Peggy Nenque of Modesto, Michelle Rosario of Newalla, Okla., and Ashley Maples of South Lake Tahoe; his brother, Ed Maples of Modesto; four sisters, Ruby Folks and June Burchett, both of Modesto, Geraldine Reeves of Oakdale and Brenda King of Turlock; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Kay Toman.
