Services were held for Bob D. Coons Sr., 78. of Valley Springs. The former Ceres resident died May 27, 2011.
Born March 30, 1933 to Birney and Ruby Coons, Bob graduated from Modesto High School and attended Modesto Junior College. He also served four years in the Navy. He married Merle Ross in 1955 and both celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on May 15. For 33 years Bob lived in Ceres where he enjoyed horses and team roping. Mr. Coons retired from Fairbanks Trucking.
He leaves behind his wife, Merle Coons of Valley Springs; three children, Bobby Coons Jr., Kim Lynn Travao and Rodney Lee Coons;his brother, Donald Coons; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
