A memorial service was held Thursday at Valley View Church of the Nazarene for Carl Norton, 68, of Ceres. He died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco.
The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 5, 1936, Mr. Norton was a native of Chickasha, Okla., and lived in Ceres for 16 years. He previously lived in Newark. Mr. Norton was a truck driver for six years, last working for Swift Transportation. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Norton was a member of Valley View Church of the Nazarene.
He leaves behind his wife, Myrna Norton of Ceres; his children, Donda Mellor and Darrell Norton, both of Pittsburg, Toni Elliott of Idaho, Pamela Dunlap of Newark, Douglas Norton of Pleasanton, Karla Camicia of Ceres and Bradley Norton of Auburn; two sisters, Joy O'Donnell of Nebraska and Annette O'Bryan of Brentwood; and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Harriette Norton; a son, Donnie Norton; brothers Robert Norton and J.F. Norton; and sister Ruby Husley.
