Charles T. Goodrich

After a brief illness, Charles Thomas Goodrich, 92, passed away on Jan. 29, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Born in St. Joseph, Michigan, on July 27, 1924, Charles was the son of Dwight (an engineer) and Dolly Tibbs Goodrich (a nurse). His earliest childhood was spent in Chicago, Ill., and in Buckeye Ariz. Chuck had lived in Modesto near the south shore of the Tuolumne River. The 1942 Ceres High School graduate was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne, WWII Pacific Theater. Most of his life was spent in trucking and for many years he drove a tanker for American Transfer.

He was a charter member of the Tuolumne River Lodge,

After retiring in 1982, Chuck and his wife Carleen traveled in their motorhome to Canada and Mexico before settling down to fishing summers in Brookings, Oregon on his boat and winters golfing in El Centro. He loved talking to people and knew everyone in both RV parks.

He is survived by his sweetheart of 70 years, Carleen Lewis Goodrich; his daughters, Gaylen (John Henry) Carlson and Terry (Lee) Pratt; his sons, Chuck (Kathy) and Linny Goodrich; and 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Sally Sughrue and Boo Dudley and by two great-grandsons.

At his request, there will be no services.
