A funeral was held Tuesday at Turlock Funeral Home for Daniel V. "Dan" Baptista, 81, of Hughson. He died Aug. 6, 2007 at his home.

Burial was private at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born April 7, 1926 on his parent's farm in Hughson. He loved farming. He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany for two years.

His main passion in life was his Lord Jesus Christ. He gave his life to the Lord in 1946. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hughson for 60 years and served as a deacon for over 40 years. Mr. Baptista spent 25 years on the Hughson Elementary School Board.

He leaves behind his two children, Karen Baptista-Counts of Hughson and Dan Baptista; and four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Cornie Baptista and granddaughter Laurie Baptista.
