A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Dollie Naomi Lane McDonald, 89, of Ceres. She died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 at HyLond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 28, 1915, Mrs. McDonald was a native of Big Piney, Mo., and lived in Ceres since 1920. She was a cannery worker at Pacific Grape Cannery from 1934 to 1941, then at S&W Fine Foods from 1952 to 1961. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Teamsters union Local 748. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Ceres, which was the forerunner to Valley Christian Center. Mrs. McDonald was the 1933 runner-up for the Goddess of Ceres title. She enjoyed camping, fishing and going to garage sales.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Janice Elaine Carpenter of Glencoe and Joann Moss of Modesto; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest S. McDonald; four sisters Blanche DeVore, Zella Helm, Lucy Baldridge, and Argie Roy; and brothers Everett Lane, Charley Lane, Clell Lane and Leslie Lane.
