A funeral service was held Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Home in Modesto for Don Taylor, 85, of Ceres. He died March 30, 2008 after a long illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1922, Mr. Taylor was a retired maintenance worker for FMC. He was a member of Ceres Church of Christ. Don enjoyed many years as a member of Ceres Senior Citizens Club. As a young man he was active in youth baseball as a coach and was loved by parents and children. Don enjoyed sports, especially fishing, and watching Giants baseball and Greenbay football.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Norma Taylor of Ceres; four children, Dennis Taylor of Lansing Mich., Pat Billings of Shawnee, Okla., Tamra Taylor of Fair Oaks and Mike Taylor of Sonora; his brother, Byrd Taylor; his sister, Wanda Stump of Bakersfield; his grandchildren, Phillip Moore, Brandon Streng, Michael Taylor, Mollie Taylor, Shawn Taylor, Adrian Taylor and Donald Taylor; great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Don was preceded in death by parents Byrd and Mary Taylor, son Rick Taylor, and five brothers and two sisters.
