A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Ernest Bernard Wengel, 90, of Ceres. He died March 27, 2009 with his family by his side.
Burial will follow the service at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born June 21, 1918, Mr. Wengel was a veteran in the Army. Mr. Wengel's first love was his wife of 62 years, Shirley. He loved the Lord and attended the Airport Assembly of God Church. Mr. Wengel enjoyed fishing, horses and wood working.
He leaves behind his children, Marlene Dickey and Darlene Wengel, both of Ceres, Judith Carnbello of Lathrop, Karen Cupit of Turlock, and Jerry Wengel of Modesto; his brother, Carl Wengel of Colorado; five sisters, Lucille Warpeha, Helen Hathaway, Gwen Anderson, all of Minnesota, Donna Moreno of Modesto and Cora Carpenter of Hilmar; and 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Shirley.
