A memorial service was held Saturday at the Denair/Turlock Church of the Nazarene for Eunice Ann Bowes King, 82, of Hughson. She died Oct. 30, 2007.

Born March 30, 1925, Mrs. Bowes was a native of Kansas City, Mo., to Pastor Alpin M. Bowes and Deborah Crane Bowes. In 1930 the family moved to Seattle where Eunice was raised. From 1947 to 1953 Eunice attended Pasadena College where she met John C. King, Jr. They married in 1949 and moved to Turlock in 1953 to begin their teaching careers. She taught many years in Ballico. She went into real estate and commercial development with her husband.

A resident of Samaritan Village since 2005, Mrs. King enjoyed traveling. She was a lifetime member of the Church of the Nazarene. She especially enjoyed attending the Layman-3/8s Retreat at Hume Lake.

She leaves behind her husband, John King of Hughson; her three daughters, Linda Kern, Jeannette Beeson and Karen Chapman; her brother, Gerald Bowes; and her grandchildren Darcy Kern, Courtney Kern, Tyler Beeson, Allison Beeson, Jana Chapman, John Michael Chapman, and Jeffrey Chapman. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alpin, and sister Florence.
