Services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Frank Dutra Valente, 82, of Hughson. He died Jan. 2, 2010.

The McHenry Chapel of Franklin Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Sept. 17, 1927 in Santa Maria, Frank was brought to Hughson with his parents in 1942. He attended Hughson High School and served in the Army in 1946. He became a dairyman farmer who also worked for Gallo Glass & Winery. Mr. Valente also raised almonds for 30 years before retiring in 1990. Frank belonged to the Blue Diamond Growers. As a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Frank was president of the MPPA in 1984 and belonged to SES.

He leaves behind his wife, Anglelina Valente of Hughson; his five children, Zelma Hughes of Modesto, Steven Valente and Ed Valente, both of Mt. Vernon, Mo., Larry Garcia of Lodi, and Randy Garcia of Hughson; and 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
