A funeral service was held Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home for George Carvalho Jr., 62, of Ceres. He died April 3, 2011 after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 2, 1948 in Maui, Hawaii, George grew up in the Bay Area. George was a deputy with the Alameda County Sheriff Department until he retired in 2006, after 28 years of service. He moved to the Ceres-Modesto in the late 1980s to fulfill his dream of owning and running his own ranch. He was a member of the Ceres Lions Club and the Fisherman's Club of Modesto. George enjoyed raising animals and tending to his almond orchard. He enjoyed singing karaoke, playing his guitar, and entertaining friends and family at his ranch.
He is survived by his two childrens George Carvalho III of El Sobrante, and Kristina of Washington; his mother, Isabel Carvalho of Ceres; his brothers, Glenn Carvalho of Ceres, and Dennis Carvalho of Reno, Nev.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by father George Carvalho, Sr.
